We had the chance to go camping with our friends Sean and Lisa Billings over Memorial Day weekend. We went to Coaldale, which is 90 miles from Colorado Springs. The kids had a great time making smores, poking the fire, playing in the tents, miniature golfing, swimming, and running around the campsite. I had fun getting away and spending time with friends and family. The highlight of the trip for Elizabeth was finding "Catty" the catterpillar. She has managed to keep him alive for 3 days. Anna spent Sunday night throwing up and is still not really eating. Andrew's favorite part of the trip was making smores and building fires. He is excited to go camping again tomorrow for a fathers and sons campout.
We stopped at Canon City on our way home to see the gorge but it was 23 bucks per person to get in. We passed until we win the lottery. The only disappointment is that Colorado doesn't compare to Utah for scenery and hiking. We've been spoiled.
