St. Patrick's Day Fun Run

My posts are not in order but my guilt is gone. The kids ran a Fun Run on St. Patrick's Day and did great. Andrew ran it with a 101 fever though we tried to talk him out of it. Elizabeth ran the whole mile and loved it. The next morning she came down the stairs and said with a smirk on her face, "my legs are sore." She is remembering all of her mom's complaints after races. She felt big. Andrew and Elizabeth had big plans to run so fast that nobody would be able to see them. They did great!

New Carpet

The week before Easter my mom came to help me since I have been in need of help. We loved every minute of it! Andrew had a fever and ear infection while she was here so she took him to the doctor and she drove me to the OB for my first appointment since I was having a migraine and she helped me clean up after Charlie and his week of stomach problems. She took down curtains to iron, helped me pick out a carpet for my family room, organized the kids closets, made the girls each a blanket, cleaned out the garage and storage room, and provided positive energy to our home. I love my mom!

Easter 2008

I can't figure out how to post next to the slideshow and I am too impatient to try anything else. I took over 40 pictures over Easter so hopefully you have the patience to watch the slideshow and see my beautiful children. We had a fun Easter and woke up to a couple of inches of snow and freezing temperatures. The girls still wore their new dresses with shirts underneath. We had an early start on Sunday so the kids could find and enjoy their Easter baskets before leaving for church at 8:45. We had Michelle and Hans and Laurie and Brent over for dinner and had an Easter egg hunt for the kids in the basement. We had 10 kids at our house and they all got along so well. We read about the resurrection in the scriptures and talked to the kids about why we celebrate Easter, though they couldn't stop thinking about candy. The girls finished their candy by Monday but Andrew still has most of his--he is saving it until Christmas, he says.

Andrew

I really need to work on my camera skills. Andrew wanted me to take a picture of his guarding stance from Tae Kwon Do. He loves it! I love hearing him say "I am a future black belt, sir!" He gets to go to Tae Kwon Do 3 times a week after school. Andrew is keeping busy with all of his hobbies. He still enjoys reading and spends a lot of time in front of his atlas planning the quickest route to anywhere. He was especially excited when he realized that the odd highways go North/South and the even numbered highways go East/West. His sense of direction is not inherited from me--he always knows which direction we are heading and he knows which states border each other in each direction. Andrew is also really good at the computer. He knows how to pull up the Internet and find anything, which is kind of scary. I found him at the computer a few days ago reading about how to solve the Rubiks cube. He had done a google search on how to solve it and pulled up a website to read! He is starting to enjoy school because he said his teacher is realizing that he is smart. He has been frustrated because the librarian will only let him check out Level 1 books and he wants to read the Fluffy books. I need to go talk to her. He can read. I also need to talk to his Kindergarten teacher but I have been too busy with self-pity. Andrew keeps telling me that he just needs to go to the second grade and that all of his friends call him a frist-grader. He told me yesterday that he has three friends--Justin, Conner, and Kai. I am happy for him. Andrew is also learning Spanish in school and he is remembering the French words that Grandpa Heath taught him "way back in 2007," as he told me this morning. We love Andrew! He has been a great help for me this past month--he takes out the garbage so I don't have to smell the garage, reads to the girls, brings me Tums in bed, takes Charlie in and out of the kennel, and keeps himself happy and occupied so I don't have to worry about him. I am lucky to have such a great boy!

Leap Day

For Leap Year we decorated buckets and put stickers on them that say "Don't Open until Febrauary 29, 2012." The kids traced their hands and feet, drew pictures, and wrote the things that they like to do. They are excited to open them in four years. Andrew wrote that he is a "tall man" and referred to himself as a man throughout his note. Funny. Elizabeth can't imagine that she will ever be 8 and that she will be baptized next leap year. Anna had to sleep with her bucket last night. I wonder if four years will go quickly. I have no memories of the last leap year.
