Pikes Peak Regional Competetive Historical Festival

Andrew played in his first piano competition on February 6th. He played Kabalevsky's Sonatina and Scherzo in B flat by Schubert. He received a trophy for Honorable Mention. He is going to play in another competition in Denver in June.
Andrew got to accompany the Primary today in church and is working on learning all the Primary songs so he can play for the program. He is very excited. He prefers playing the piano to singing, though we are considering signing him up for voice lessons due to his perfect pitch.
Andrew and Jeff are taking a guitar class together and Andrew has mastered quite a few chords. Not sure why I got such a musical child but I am hoping to keep him challenged.

Girls

Eden loves putting on these sunglasses. She thinks she is so funny. Anna loves pushing Eden around in the baby stroller and feeding her breakfast. I am grateful that Eden and Anna like to play with each other. They get to spend lots of time together.

Baptism

On December 29 Andrew was baptized in Sandy with all of our family there. It was a great experience. Andrew thinks he will always remember the spider in the baptismal font and that the water was cold. Cindy and Dad gave talks and all the cousins sang a song, which Andrew accompanied.

Happy Birthday

Melanie gave me BYU pajama pants and a BYU shirt for Christmas. You can never have too much of a good thing!

Andrew sang: "Happy Birthday, BYU. Happy Birthday, BYU. Happy Birthday, BYU. Go Cougars!" to the tune of "Happy Birthday".

Theme Days

My kids have a lot of themed days at school, which are fun and annoying. They get to dress up, which is a huge change from their regular uniforms, and they have food, which is annoying for the parents. Elizabeth had Egyptian Day and a Thanksgiving Feast and Andrew had Native American Day. Elizabeth wore make-up, which she cried and rubbed off before we made it to school because her costume wasn't quite up to her expectations. Andrew liked his costume and said that everyone enjoyed the smoked turkey cubes that was our contribution. Elizabeth brought pumpkin cookies and was too shy to tell why she likes pumpkin cookies. She did sing a great song with her class. Now we are preparing for Viking Day. Not sure how to do that one yet.
